Iberdrola Renewables has announced the Tennessee Valley Authority (TVA) will purchase 300 megawatts (MW) of clean, renewable energy from Iberdrola Renewables’ Streator Cayuga Ridge South Wind Power Project under construction near the villages of Odell and Emington, Illinois, south of Chicago. Technip has joined StatoilHydro in celebrating the inauguration of the Hywind demonstration wind turbine, which took place last week in Karmøy, Norway. Located 10 kilometers offshore Karmøy, Hywind is the first full-scale floating wind turbine and has a capacity of 2.3 MW.

Megger has provided Texas State Technical College with insulation, ground, circuit-breaker testers, and a special blade repair test lead kit for checking the condition of the lightning protection provisions in the blades of wind turbines, as well as supporting documentary material.
Students will now be able to gain hands-on experience of testing wind turbine systems, thanks to test equipment supplied to the college by Megger.
