According to a new long-term projection model from Bloomberg New Energy Finance, annual global expenditure on renewable energy projects will increase from $90 billion (USD) in 2009 to $150 billion in 2020. The model shows that this will further increase to $200 billion by 2030 given current policy targets.

Beacon Power Corporation has shipped, installed and connected a Smart Energy™ 25 (Gen 4) flywheel energy storage system at a wind farm in Tehachapi, California. The system is part of a wind power/flywheel demonstration project being carried out for the California Energy Commission.

According to the Global Wind Energy Council’s Global Wind 2008 Report, India now ranks fifth in the world in terms of total installed wind power capacity. NaturEner USA, LLC has closed on a $117.5 million construction loan and a $120 million tax equity facility arranged by Morgan Stanley for NaturEner’s Glacier 2 wind farm outside Ethridge, Montana. The wind farm is expected to be placed in service in October of this year.

Two inventors have patented The Green Roadway technology portfolio, an end-to-end system of installations and configurations for creating, gathering and distributing solar or wind energy along roadways. The technology could be implemented on the right-of-way along interstate highways, local roads and even railways.
