Juhl Wind enters feasibility study agreement for a 6 megawatt Community Wind farm in Minnesota
Juhl Wind Inc. has announced that it recently entered into a feasibility study agreement with a group of local owners to study and develop an estimated 6 megawatt Community Wind farm in Wilkin County, Minnesota. The project incorporates 7 local farmer owner/partners and is located approximately 6 miles southeast of Breckenridge, Minnesota.
“We are very excited about entering this agreement with the Sunny Side Wind farm owners,” stated Dan Juhl, CEO of Juhl Wind. “The Sunny Side is part of a group of projects we have been developing in Minnesota and other portions of the Midwest that reflect our strategy to focus on more numerous, but slightly smaller wind farms in order to accelerate the development timeline and transmission interconnection process.”
“Sunny Side is very representative of the types of projects we have been adding to our pipeline recently,” continued Juhl. “We are finding that local owners are really beginning to understand the significant economic benefits provided by “Community Wind” and as a result, we are garnering more and more interest on an ongoing basis. We are in the process of initiating a handful of other projects similar to Sunny Side. Given our experience with small wind farms, we are in an excellent position to move these projects through the development process relatively quickly.”
“The feasibility study agreement is the first phase of any wind project we develop,” added Dan Juhl. “While there are a handful of steps in any development process, we only take on feasibility studies if we are confident that the key elements exist for a successful project.”
